Well talk about knowing your audience.

In an effort to persuade opponents of reproductive rights, and seeking clarification, comedian Sarah Silverman went straight to the source of the controversy.

“Jesus.”

Enlisting Jesus himself Silverman’s 5 minute video – created to promote a national reproductive rights parade scheduled for September 28th called “V to Shinning V” – features footage of the arguably unconventional duo hanging out and chatting about life.

Jesus clears a few things up including when life truly begins and what bums him out– 40, and “people who use my name for intolerance and oppression” respectively.  Between watching NCIS and reading some cat books Jesus further clarifies.

Fertilized eggs aren’t people, people are people BUT people who believe fertilized eggs are people are people, too.  You have to love them.  You’re not better than them.

The video is part of a larger effort dubbed Lady Parts Justice which will continue to advocate on behalf of reproductive rights while promoting the fall march that will be taking place in capitals across the country.

Ultimately what we’re talking about here is reproductive freedom, and to that end, the fight to provide women with access to information and health care services.

As Adweek notes, it’s likely that Silverman is preaching to the choir with this video.   Yet with 2013 going down as the worst year for reproductive freedom in recent memory, despite the nation seeing a decrease in the rate of abortions, then the message bears repeating.
